Bei meinem ersten Trip in die USA, ich glaube der Anlass war eine WWDC von Apple, hat mich diese Installation vor dem Tech Museum in San Jose fasziniert.
Heute kam sie mir wieder in den Sinn als Metapher meiner Informationsklempnerei.
Konkretes Beispiel:

  1. Das HIForum verschickt Newsletter.
  2. Mein Mail-Programm ist so konfiguriert, dass die Mails an einen Blog weiter geschickt werden.
  3. Von dort geht es per twitterfeed nach Twitter @hiforum
  4. Außerdem werden die mit ‘ux’ getaggten Artikel von Y!Pipes aufgelesen.
  5. Feedburner macht daraus einen Feed und liefert ein Script, das den Feed auf Blogs im Fluss anzeigt.
  6. Hier lauert wieder ein twitterfeed, der das nach Twitter @uxhh verbreitet.
  7. Die Pipe für Blogs im Fluss speist auch eine weitere Pipe für das UX Logbuch.
  8. Per feedburner sieht man das auf der Seite UX Logbuch.
  9. Und – wer hätte es vermutet? – das UX Logbuch twittert auch.

So, klingt komplex, ist aber nur kompliziert; oder folgerichtig, wenn man weiß, was man da tut. In San Jose lagen übrigens immer ein paar Billardkugeln neben der Bahn. Ich habe mich gefragt, ob die Installation auch mal aus Mangel an Kugeln im Spiel zum Stehen kommt.

mprove aggregation

After launching a bunch of blogs, I consider ways to aggregate the information for those who like to get the whole picture. Feedburner offers the nice feature to register feeds and get some scripts back to republish the content on web pages of your choice. This is what I did on mprove: blogs.
Furthermore, yahoo pipes is a visual programming system to merge, and sort, and filter feeds and information from other sources into new feeds. My first pipe takes my blogger feeds, my flickr stream, my del.icio.us updates and my Xing messages and assembles the content into mprove pipes. (BTW- does anyone know how to edit the pipe content on the fly? I like to change the title for the del.ici.us entries and maybe add the tags to the content.)
